Dr. Shelley Brown received her BA in Biology from the University of Colorado in 1991. She went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University (CSU) in 1997. Preferring a more holistic approach to veterinary medicine, she finished the Acupuncture for Veterinarians course at CSU in 1999 and has been integrating this non-invasive technique into her daily practice ever since.
Dr. Brown's professional interests include pain management and recovery from injury and disease. She currently plans to pursue further education in the areas of herbal medicine and homotoxicology, with the ultimate goal of specializing in pain management. Her passion for animals has led her to donate her time and expertise to various animal causes. She has been a volunteer veterinarian with the Pet Therapy Program at Exempla Luthern Medical Center since 1999. She also volunteers with Meow Mobile, a mobile low cost spay-neuter clinic for cats, and VIDAS, a group that performs spays and neuters in Mexico.
In her spare time, Dr. Brown enjoys music, including flute, piano, mandolin, and singing. She has also competed in triathlons for the last 10 years and is a USA Triathlon Level 1 certified coach. She currently coaches for 2 women's triathlon teams. Her busy life doesn't allow as much time as she would like for her own "family", which consists of 2 cats, a dog, a rabbit and a bird.
